MITCHELL, S.D. - The Dakota Wesleyan University Tiger Athlete of the Week is Kamberlyn Lamer, it was announced by the DWU athletic department Monday.
Lamer won the heptathlon event on Saturday at the Great Plains Athletic Conference Championships in Yankton, S.D. The senior finished in first place in the 100-meter hurdles, 200-meter dash, long jump and javelin throw throughout the heptathlon event. Lamer currently leads the nation in the heptathlon and the 5,017 point total in the heptathlon set a GPAC record.
The Hartford, S.D., native also finished first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.26 seconds which set an NAIA “A” standard. Lamer also collected a second-finish in the triple jump with a leap of 38-7.75 feet. Lamer was named the GPAC Female Outstanding Athlete of the Meet for her efforts.
The Tigers will participate in the Concordia Twilight on Friday in Seward, Neb.
