SIOUX CITY, Iowa — In her 20th year with DWU Athletics, Randi Christensen has been named the Great Plains Athletic Conference Athletic Trainer of the Year for 2024-25, presented by Hauff Mid-America Sports. A vote of the league's athletic trainers determined the selection.
Christensen took on her role at Dakota Wesleyan in 2005. She is a graduate of South Dakota State with a B.S. in Athletic Training (2002) and hold her M.A. from Dakota Wesleyan (2007).
She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association, the Mid-America Athletic Trainers' Association and the South Dakota Athletic Trainers' Association. She is also an instructor for the American Heart Association in first aid, CPR, AED and Basic Life Support skills.
"Randi has been one of the most consistent and loyal employees that DWU Athletics has had for the last 20 years," said Dakota Wesleyan Athletic Director Ross Cimpl. "She goes above and beyond for the programs and athletes that she oversees. Randi works extremely hard to get our athletes back on the field as quickly as possible; she is also very involved in the classroom. She is in integral part of teaching classes for our SPX and ATC majors. She is very well respected on our campus and in the conference. She puts the needs of others before hers consistently and 'bleeds blue' for DWU."
"Randi is most deserving of this honor in the GPAC," said GPAC Commissioner Corey Westra. "She is looked to for advice and best practices by our ATC's in the league and has been a tremendous leader for our athletic training group in the GPAC. We congratulate her on this award and thank her for all she does to go above and beyond for the profession."
Christensen will be the GPAC nominee for the NAIA Sports Athletic Trainer of the Year.
