Freshman (2023): Appeared and started in 38 games for the Tigers...was one of four Tigers to earn GPAC All-Conference Honorable Mention...finished season with a .274 batting average to go with a .394 on base, 17 RBI, eight extra base hits, 15 runs, team-high 19 walks, and two stolen bases...recorded his first collegiate hit in his first game with a double at Kansas Wesleyan (2/18/23)...recorded a season-high three hits, including a triple and stolen base against D2 opponent SMSU (3/6/23)...credited with first career homerun at home vs. Hastings in a 5-4 win (4/24/23)...had a season-high four runs batted in against D2 opponent Bemidji State (3/8/23).

High School: Jirau was a two-year starter for East Ridge High School in Woodbury, Minn., were he batted .300 during his junior season... the 2020-21 All-Conference Honorable Mention also holds a 2019 Minnesota State Championship Title.

TIGERS FALL IN SLUGFEST TO MUSTANGS 17-9

Dakota Wesleyan baseball fell to D2 program Southwest Minnesota State in a slugfest by a score of 17-9 on their second day of their spring, Tucson, Arizona trip. The Tigers were outhit by the Mustangs 17-11. Seth Christiansen got the start for the Tigers and was tagged with the loss. Dakota Wesleyan got the bats going in this one though being led by Drew Kitchens going 3 for 4 with three runs batted in and scored to go with a walk and stolen base. Diego Jirau also collected three hits and a stolen base while hustling around the bases with a triple. Caleb Meyers recorded two hits, one being a double and tied with Kitchens with three RBI in the game.

TIGERS DROP BOTH GAMES ON FIRST DAY IN TUCSON, ARIZ. STILL SEARCHING FOR FIRST WIN

Dakota Wesleyan baseball dropped both games on the first day of their Spring Trip in Tucson, Ariz. by scores of 13-2 against Benedictine University Mesa who improved to 10-7 on the season and 4-2 vs. Southwest Minnesota State University by a score of 4-2. The Mustangs improved to 2-1 on the year with the Tigers dropping to 0-5 and still looking for that first win of the 2023 spring season.

Dakota Wesleyan baseball falls 15-6 in their final game of a three-game series with Kansas Wesleyan. Lane Darrow again was the bright spot for the Tigers, going 4 for 5 with a double and two runs scored. Seth Christiansen started on the mound tossing 3.2 innings giving up six runs on six hits and racking up four strikeouts. The Tigers drop to 0-3 on the season and look ahead to their seven-game spring trip in Tucson, Ariz. The Coyotes improve to 9-5 on the year with the three-game sweep.

TIGERS DROP FIRST DH OF THE SEASON 12-2 & 8-0 AGAINST KANSAS WESLEYAN

The Dakota Wesleyan Baseball team dropped their first doubleheader of the 2023 season by scores of 12-2 in game 1 and 8-0 in game 2. The Tigers collected two runs on six hits in the first game while going scoreless with two hits in the second. Lane Darrow went 2 for 5 on the day with a run scored, double and a walk. DWU looks to get in the win column with a rematch against the Coyotes tomorrow at noon.
