EIGHT SACKS HELP TIGERS PREVAIL OVER DOANE AT HOME

Mitchell, S.D. – Dakota Wesleyan University football tallies 226 total yards of offense, defeating Doane at home. DWU football notched nearly 52 minutes' worth of possession in the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Tigers' first drive of the game went 26-yards on eight plays, taking 5:14 off the clock.
  • The Dakota Wesleyan defense came up big at the end of the first quarter as Samuel Kretschmar blocked a punt on the Doane 20-yard line for the first score of the game.
  • Doane scored their first points of the game, in the second, with a 56-yard rushing touchdown tying the score at 7-7.
  • In the third, Trevor Lambert attempted a 27-yard field goal, which was good for another three points putting the Tigers up 10-7 with 8:30 remaining in the third quarter.
  • With the first DWU drive of the fourth quarter, Nelson connected with Jakob Oxos for the six-yard touchdown completing the 50-yard drive that lasted seven minutes.
  • Doane notched one more touchdown in the remaining two and a half minutes of the game; the PAT kick was missed wide right by the Doane Tigers kicker.
  • Nelson threw for 168 yards and one touchdown, completing 18 of his 24 passing attempts.
  • Arend rushed for 32 yards on 13 total carries.
  • Oxos had three receptions for 41-yards and one touchdown in the game.
  • Victor Kniesche led the defensive effort with ten total tackles and one sack for a loss of nine yards.
  • Dominick Warmbein tallied 2.5 sacks for a loss of 19 yards and 3.5 tackles for a loss of 20 total yards.
