TIGERS FOOTBALL SET FOR LAST ROAD GAME OF THE 2021 SEASON

Mitchell, S.D. – Dakota Wesleyan football takes their last road trip of the 2021 season to take on the Chargers of Briar Cliff University. The Tigers and Chargers kick off at 1 p.m. from Memorial Field in Sioux City, Iowa.

 

ABOUT THE TIGERS

  • Dakota Wesleyan football enters the Saturday match with records of 3-5 overall, 3-5 in league play, and 1-3 on the road.
  • DWU is averaging; 283.9 total offensive yards per contest this year, 129-yards on the ground, and 154.9 passing yards.
  • Kiel Nelson continues to lead the quarterbacks for Coach Cimpl, completing 50.5% of his passing attempts and averaging 136.6 passing yards per contest.
  • In the running game, Jamin Arend is rushing a mean of 69.3 yards per game with a total of 127 carries on the season.
  • Nelson has 75 total carries on the season for an average of 46.1 yards per game.
  • Jakob Oxos has 24 receptions on the season for an average of 44.8 yards per contest with three touchdowns.
  • Arend is second on the receivers list with 22 receptions for a mean of 27.1 yards per game.

  • The Chargers are averaging 266-yards per game; 220.5 of which yards are passing, and 45.5 rushing yards.
  • Luke Davies leads the BCU quarterbacks averaging 215.3 passing yards per contest with a completion rate of 53.28%
  • Davies has thrown for nine touchdowns on the season while throwing 12 interceptions.
  • Asante Anglin is the leading rusher for the Chargers, running for a mean of 34.67 yards per game on 55 carries.
  • Aaron Okoro is averaging 65.43 receiving yards per contest with two touchdowns
  • On the defensive side of the ball, Brett Tinker tops the leader board, notching 63 total tackles, including one sack.
  • The Chargers are led by second-year head coach Shane Ladage.

 

LAST MEETING

  • The Tigers are 12-6 all-time against the Chargers after a 26-7-win last season at home.
  • DWU racked up the offensive yards last year against BCU, notching 294 total offensive yards while holding Briar Cliff to only 87offensive yards.
  • Returning rusher Arend went for 98-yards on the ground last year with one touchdown and adding another 48 receiving yards on four receptions.
  • Hayden Schmidt and Trey Bohlmann each were credited last season with one interception.
  • Nate Rupprecht led the defensive group with five total tackles, including three solo tackles.
