Nicholson Adds Riewer to Staff

Mitchell, S.D. – Dakota Wesleyan University is proud to announce the addition of Jordan Riewer to its men's basketball coaching staff. Riewer brings a deep well of basketball knowledge and experience—both on the court and from the sidelines—and will join the program immediately under first-year head coach Sam Nicholson.

Riewer most recently served as an assistant coach at the University of Minnesota Duluth, a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). Prior to that, he enjoyed a successful professional playing career overseas. His final stint came with KK Škrljevo in Croatia's Premijer League during the 2019–20 season. He also competed in Australia's NBL1 Central with the Central District Lions (2018–19), and previously played in Germany's Pro A League and the Czech Republic's top division.

Off the court, Riewer has steadily built a strong coaching résumé. Since 2019, he has coached with the MN Comets AAU program, where he emphasized player development and mentorship. He also served as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM), during the 2017–18 season.

Riewer's roots in basketball trace back to a standout collegiate career at MSUM. He was named NSIC Player of the Year in 2014–15 and earned NCAA Division II All-American honors. Known for his elite shooting ability, Riewer still holds the second-best free throw percentage in NCAA history at 94%. He graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and a minor in Strength and Conditioning.

Head Coach Sam Nicholson expressed his excitement about the hire:
"Jordan will be a huge part of the program. He's a players' coach who values player development and relationships deeply. Jordan comes with great knowledge from playing and coaching in the NSIC, as well as playing professionally. Tie that with his strong Midwest recruiting ties, I don't think we could have found a better person for the job."
