MITCHELL, S.D. — Dakota Wesleyan Men's Basketball faced the Morningside Mustangs in a conference matchup to close the night's doubleheader.
The Tigers began the contest with an early scoring run to take a 15-5 lead to force an early Mustang timeout, but Morningside was quick to bounce back into the game as it became a back-and-forth affair down the stretch. Dakota Wesleyan was led by both Easton Neuendorf and Steele Morgan in scoring, as both athletes posted 16-point performances, with Morgan going a solid 7-12 (58.3%) from the field while grabbing six rebounds and four assists. Randy Rosenquist Jr., the reigning GPAC Defensive Player of the Week, stood out for the team with a double-double that included 13 points and 10 rebounds, along with five added assists, three steals, and two blocks in another well-rounded effort. The added firepower certainly aided the Tigers as the Mustangs began to pick up momentum on offense, and Anthony Riggans contributed by adding 10 points to the board, including a perfect 2-2 clip from three, while adding five rebounds to the total. The Mustangs outshot the Tigers from the field in the first half, but DWU found more efficiency on three-point opportunities, sinking 60% from beyond the arc. Both teams would be knotted up at 37 going into the half.
Both teams traded points as the game continued out of the break, with both teams staying within a couple of possessions of the other as leads continued to swap. Andrew Younan would prove to be a huge asset off the bench, recording eight points, two boards, and two steals, while Tyson Stevenson rounded out DWU's starting lineup with seven points, three rebounds, and two steals. Even with the additional offense, Morningside was able to capitalize on more scoring opportunities, outshooting Dakota Wesleyan in the second half 63% to 45.2% from the field. It would ultimately be the difference-maker in the contest, as the Mustangs were able to put together a few late scoring runs to keep the Tigers at bay, ultimately taking the victory 81-75. It was the Tigers' first conference loss of the season.
DWU Men's Basketball will be back in action against Midland on Saturday, November 22nd, at 3:45 PM at the Corn Palace. See the full 2025-26 schedule here.
