NEWTON, Kan. – The Dakota Wesleyan University men's golf team got the spring portion of its season underway at the Bethel College Spring Invitational over the weekend in Newton, Kan.
The Tigers posted a strong opening round Saturday, starting the final round in second, led by a tournament-low 68 from senior Anthony Husher (Winner, S.D.). The Tigers remained near the top of the leaderboard on day two, finishing in fourth with a two-round score of 607.
Husher got his spring going strong, tying for fifth on the individual leaderboard, posting a 79 in round two, for a total score of 147. Senior Tyler Burr (Belle Fourche, S.D.) added a 10th-place finish with a 149, while junior Cal Weise (Fedora, S.D.) tied for 35th with a 154, competing for the DWU second team.
The second DWU team finished 15th in the 22 team field. Dodge City Community College won the team title with a 585 two-round total.
The Tigers hit the course again for the third Great Plains Athletic Conference Qualifier hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan University at Firethorn Golf Club April 11 in Lincoln, Neb. DWU sits in a tie for fourth place in the GPAC after the first two rounds.
