Calahan Earns All-Conference Honors as Team Finishes Fourth at GPAC Championships

Beatrice, Neb. – The Tigers men's golf team competed at the GPAC Championships this Monday and Tuesday at Beatrice Country Club, playing a total of 54 holes over 3 rounds. Day one featured 36 holes, round one and two, where the Tigers finished in 4th. The golfers who represented the Tigers, as a team, were Dakota MungerAndrew NorbergJackson ChildsConnor Calahan, Ryan Flannery, and Jack Olson.

 

Team Highlights:

- Connor Calahan (So.) led the team with an impressive 5th place finish. He improved steadily throughout the tournament, ultimately securing his spot in the top five. Calahan opened with a +2 in round one, followed by a +1 in round two. He finished strong in round three with a -1. bringing his total score to +2 for the tournament. His performance contrbuted 30.88 points to the Tigers team total. 

Peyton Bettcher (Jr.) led the team with an impressive 5th place finish. He improved steadily throughout the tournament, ultimately securing his spot in the top five. Calahan opened with a +2 in round one, followed by a +1 in round two. He finished strong in round three with a -1. bringing his total score to +2 for the tournament. His performance contributed 30.88 points to the Tigers team total.

Dakota Munger (Fr.) is the next Tiger golfer up on the leaderboard finishing 10th overall in the tournament. The freshman showed consistent play across all three rounds, ending with a total score of +5. He carded a +2 in round one, +1 in round two, and another +2 in the final round. MUnger's steady performance earned him a top-10 finish and earned 24.05 points to DWU's team score.

Andrew Norberg (Jr.) Struggled early, posting a +8 in round one and a +11 in round two. However, he finished the championships strong with a +5 in round three on the final day. That solid final round allowed him to climb three spots on the leaderboard, finishing 37th overall and adding 4.94 points to the team's total. 

Jackson Childs (So.) finished at 51st. His round one and three scores were counted. In round one he scored a +17 and in round three he scored a +11. Adding 1.09 points to the teams score.

- Ryan Flannery (Fr.) finished at 53rd overall. He scored 0.54 points. The only score of his to be counted was his round two score of +17.

 

Looking Ahead For The Tigers: 

The DWU Tigers wrapped up the GPAC Championships in 4th place overall, finishing with a team score of +35 and earning 29.10 points. Matching last year's result, the consistent finish highlights the team's steady progress. With a young and talented roster, the Tigers continue to build momentum as they aim to climb even higher in the GPAC standings in the seasons ahead.
