DAKOTA WESLEYAN, MIDLAND FACE OFF ON SATURDAY LOOKING TO CONTINUE POSTSEASON PUSH

MITCHELL, S.D. – In a pivotal Great Plains Athletic Conference matchup, the Dakota Wesleyan University men's soccer program plays host to Midland University at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday from the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex in Mitchell, S.D.

About the Tigers  

  • Winners of two straight and three of their last six, the Tigers look to continue their momentum with three regular-season home matches left on the 2021 docket.
  • Dakota Wesleyan knocked off a pair of in-state rivals a week ago from the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex downing Presentation College in the 81st minute 2-1 on Wednesday. The Blue and Gray followed with a 2-0 shutout victory over Mount Marty University on Saturday.
  • Junior goalkeeper Hunter Birozy, who secured his second shutout performance of the season versus the Lancers, collected GPAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week honors for his performances last week. Birozy enters Saturday's matchup with 91 career saves in 19 appearances as a Tiger.
  • DWU has recorded 12-or-more shots in six outings this season including its last three contests and are 4-2-0 in such games.

About the Warriors   

  • Coming off a 3-1 victory over Doane University , the Warriors maintain a 6-8-0 overall record including a 3-5-0 mark in conference action.
  • Earliar this season Midland finished with a 13-5 advantage in shots over No. 23 Northwestern College despite falling by a score of 1-0.
  • During the 2021 campaign, 11 of the Warrior's 14 matches have been decided by one goal including a pair of overtime matches.

  • When both programs meet on the pitch on Saturday, it will be the 18th head-to-head matchup since the 2006 season.
