LA CROSSE, Wis. — Dakota Wesleyan University Men's Soccer traveled to Wisconsin to take on the Viterbo V-Hawks in an out-of-conference competition.

The V-Hawks jumped out to an early lead in the fourth minute with a near-instantaneous goal. The Tigers would fight back, with Lewis Cunningham and Maximilian Nolle getting up shot attempts in the first half of the contest, but DWU would find themselves working from behind during most of the contest, with Viterbo jumping out to a 0-4 lead heading into halftime. Goalkeeper Zackary Stephens would record two saves throughout the match to bolster the defensive efforts even as the V-Hawks continued on the attack.

In the second half, the Tigers would hold steady as they continued to find creases in the V-Hawk defense. Colton Douglas, Charlie Orsler, and David Lennon would all get opportunities at scoring that they could not quite connect on. Colin Burke would also have a nice shot-on-goal, but a quick save by the Viterbo goalkeeper would keep the Tigers scoreless. DWU would continue to battle, but a fifth goal for the V-Hawks in the 80th minute would seal the game, resulting in a Tigers loss.

DWU Men's Soccer will be back in action in their regular season home-opener against Providence (Mont.) on Tuesday, September 2nd, at 5:00 PM. See the entire 2025 schedule here.
