MITCHELL, S.D. — Dakota Wesleyan Men's Soccer squared off against the Concordia Bulldogs at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex in a conference contest.
Both teams found offensive opportunities early into the match, flipping possessions to try to get an initial advantage. Evan Bolster had an attempt on the goal in the first of his three shots throughout the contest that was ultimately saved by Concordia, but Dakota Wesleyan was keeping the pace up as the match continued. The Bulldogs found a seam in the 11th minute, however, to claim the first point of the game and go up 1-0. The Tigers continued to keep pressure on the opposite side of the pitch, with David Lennon and AJ Bowman finding opportunities to score, but stout defense from Concordia kept Dakota Wesleyan scoreless. The Tigers would end up outshooting the Bulldogs 18-6, but nine total saves from the Concordia goalkeeper kept the DWU offense in check. The 1-0 deficit for Dakota Wesleyan stuck through the first half, with Concordia heading to the locker room at halftime with the advantage.
The contest stalled a bit to start the second half, with Colton Douglas registering the only shot-on-goal through the first stretch of play, but Concordia once again found a crease in the DWU defense to punch in a goal in the 54th minute, going up 2-0. The Tigers fought off multiple corner kicks from the Bulldogs and continued to try their hand at getting on the board, which finally came to fruition in the 67th minute. Lukas Adamhuber, who led the team in shots-on-goal with three during the match, connected with the back of the CUNE net thanks to a quick pass from Bowman near the goal, bringing the score to 2-1. Dakota Wesleyan remained aggressive on offense to even the score, but Concordia was able to snuff out the Tiger attack, which included four shots and a corner kick in the final 10 minutes of competition. The Bulldogs ultimately held on 2-1, with the Tigers moving to 7-7-1 on the season, and 5-2-1 in the GPAC.
DWU Men's Soccer will be back in action against Briar Cliff on Wednesday, October 22nd, at 1:00 PM. See the full 2025 schedule here.
