Wayne, Neb. – The Dakota Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams competed in their first meet of the outdoor season at the 12th annual Wayne State Wildcat Classic Thursday in Wayne, Neb.
Rex Schlicht (Woonsocket, S.D) and Lane Tibbs (Kenesaw, Neb.) led the way for the Tigers both finishing in the top three in their respective races. Schlicht finished in third place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:02.39 minutes. Tibbs finished in third place in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:39.44 minutes.
Matt Campbell (Gregory, S.D.) finished in fifth place in the discus throw, with a throw of 150-03 feet. Four Tigers competed in the shot put with Campbell finishing in fourth with a toss of 46-11.75. Caden Milmine (Buffalo, Wyo.) followed in seventh place with a throw of 42-9.5. Nick Raab (Yankton, S.D.) finished in ninth place with a throw of 40-0.5, and Dawson Kerzman (Dell Rapids, S.D.) finished with a mark of 39-7 which was good for 10th place.
Mikaela Stofferahn (Dell Rapids, S.D) took sixth in the discus with a throw of 127-06 and 16th place in the shot put with a throw of 36-7.5. Madison Witte (Huron, S.D) finished with a throw of 100-09 for a 12th-place finish in the discus, and 10th place in the shot put with a throw of 37-9.5.
Morgan Taft (Norris, S.D) finished in 14th place in the hammer throw with a toss of 134-08, and also finished in 19th place in the shot put with a throw of 34-2.75. Kelsie King (Mission Viejo, Calif) took home a sixth-place finish in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 44:37.96, and Shaylin Schweigert (Burke, S.D.) finished in seventh place in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:30.91.
DWU will compete in the SMSU Mustang Open Friday March 30th in Marshall, Minn.
