MITCHELL, S.D. — RV Dakota Wesleyan Men's Wrestling competed at the DWU Open, which was hosted on campus at the DWU Sports & Wellness Complex.

The Tigers saw a handful of competitors pick up multiple wins, but the standout was 174-pounder Jagger Tyler, who rattled off five wins during the tournament before two no-contests to finish in sixth place in the bracket with a 5-1 record on the day. The Mitchell (S.D.) native won his first match with a dominant 18-2 technical fall before losing his following match in a tight 4-3 decision. On the backside of the bracket, he strung together four consecutive wins, which included a fall in just over four minutes, two wins by decision, and an 8-0 major decision to round out his day of competition. Kipp Cordes at the 133-pound weight class also put up an impressive effort, which included three-straight wins after his first-round loss, which consisted of a 15-1 major decision, a 14-11 decision, and an 11-6 decision. Cordes would not end up placing, as would the rest of the lineup, but the efforts of both him and Tyler gave the team serious momentum against a tough slate of competition.

Three Tigers recorded two wins during the tournament. Teagan Foreman joined Tyler in the 174-pound weight class, where he won a match via a 12-6 decision and his second one on the day through a pinfall in 1:29. 184-pounder Jaxon Quail recorded a pinfall in less than a minute and a technical fall in under five. Cole Hennings made a run to the quarterfinals on the frontside of the bracket thanks to a 13-5 major decision win in his first match, followed by a 14-9 decision. Jaxson Irvine at the 125-pound weight class and Ian Metz at 141 both picked up singular wins to add to the team's overall performance.

DWU Men's Wrestling will square off against the NCAA Division II Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs on Saturday, November 15th, at 7:00 PM. See the full 2025-26 schedule here.
