SIOUX CITY, Iowa — RV Dakota Wesleyan Men's Wrestling squared off against the Midland Warriors, who had received votes in the top 25, and the eighth-ranked Doane Tigers at the weekend's GPAC Duals.
DWU opened competition against Midland in the first dual of the day. Chase Preston was the squad's representative at 125 for both duals, and while he fought well in his first match, he would ultimately fall via major decision, 14-2. Tukker Boe and Landon Flogstad picked up forfeit wins for DWU to get the Tigers on the board, but a technical fall to Zach Kolbe at 149 put Midland back in the race as a team. Midland and Dakota Wesleyan traded forfeits at 157, 165, and 174 before Jaxon Quail would represent the Tigers at 184 against Nate McDonald of Midland. Quail struggled against McDonald's offensive prowess and fell via major decision, 14-3. A forfeit at 197 and a 10-2 major decision loss at heavyweight from Cole Hennings ended the dual in favor of Midland, 35-18.
In the second dual of the day, DWU faced an even tougher challenge in Doane, which is nationally ranked inside the top 10. Ray Ray Harris defeated Preston in the opening contest via technical fall, 21-6, and Matthew Terrance would record a slick pinfall over Kipp Cordes at 133 to take a quick 11-0 team lead over DWU. Flogstad recorded a win via medical decision after holding a 4-3 lead in the first period, but Doane got right back to work with a pinfall at 149 and a forfeit at 157 that extended their lead over Dakota Wesleyan. Dylan Arredondo fought hard at 165, but the oppressive offense from Grayson Hagen of Doane resulted in a pinfall at the very end of the second period. Following another DWU forfeit at 174, Quail was back up at 184, where he broke up the Doane winning streak with an impressive 11-5 decision win over Kolton Kammeyer, who is ranked 18th in the NAIA at the weight class. Quail got to work early in the match and landed a big takedown and nearfall at the edge of the mat at the end of the first period to give himself a big enough lead to sustain the rest of the contest. The dual closed with a DWU forfeit at 197 and a close match between Elias Timms and Hennings, which saw Timms take home the 4-2 decision victory, leading to a final team scoreline of 44-9 for Doane.
DWU Men's Wrestling will be back in action at the Doane Open to kick off December. See the full 2025-26 schedule here.
