CRETE, Neb. — RV Dakota Wesleyan Men's Wrestling saw 12 athletes compete at the Conner Oppenheim Open hosted by the Doane Tigers.
At 125, the Tigers were represented by Chase Preston, who saw action in two matches, and Will Farren, who picked up an impressive pinfall in the first period over #11 Jackson Eylar of Eastern Oregon in his opening match. Farren would fall in his following two matches via a close 8-7 decision and fall to wrap up his day in the bracket, but the ranked win gives him momentum heading into the new year. Kipp Cordes grabbed another ranked win for Dakota Wesleyan at 133 with a third-period pinfall over GPAC foe #10 Dante Rigal of Briar Cliff, along with a win in his second match via a gritty 5-3 decision. The 141-pound bracket saw Landon Flogstad record two wins on the backside with a 19-11 major decision and first-period pinfall over Peralta of Benedictine College. Gavin Braun picked up two impressive victories at 149 with a 15-5 major decision and pinfall before falling to Mendoza of Grand View to end his day.
Gordien Nzeyimana and Lane Miller both picked up wins in the 157 and 165-pound weight classes, with Nzeyimana's decision coming in sudden victory, and Miller recording a convincing 10-3 decision in his first match of the day. To round out the lineup, Cole Hennings and Tanner Hennings combined for five wins at heavyweight. Cole recorded two pinfalls in matches one and four of the day while grabbing a dominant 9-2 win as well, while Tanner won his first match in sudden victory, 4-1, and also gutted out a 9-7 decision victory on the backside of the bracket. Team scores were not kept for the competition. See all results from Conner Oppenheim Open here.
