MARSHALL, Mo. — RV Dakota Wesleyan Men's Wrestling traveled to Missouri to compete in the Missouri Valley Invitational, which is considered one of the toughest NAIA wrestling tournaments of the season.
The Tigers had multiple wrestlers put up competitive performances, but none were more impressive than the tandem of Jagger Tyler and Teagan Foreman at the 174-pound weight class. Foreman worked his way up the winning portion of the bracket, rattling off four consecutive victories to earn a spot in the semi-finals before eventually falling, while Tyler had to recover from a second-round loss on the backside of the bracket. Jagger was able to string together four consecutive wins of his own on the backside, including a 9-4 decision victory over No. 14 Landon Buchanan to secure a spot in the third-place match. Foreman claimed a medical forfeit win in his backside matchup on the second day, placing him in the third-place match as well. Because of team rules, the two did not end up squaring off in their placement match, meaning both men claimed third place in the 174-pound bracket, marking the highest-ever finish for a DWU wrestler at the Missouri Valley Invitational. Jackson Remmers added major points to the team score by claiming a fifth-place finish in the 165-pound bracket, marking one of the sophomore's best performances to date in his collegiate career, which included a 13-3 major decision win in his placement matchup against Jeff Dunasky of Marian. Remmers's path through the 165-pound bracket included a win over No. 19 Alexander Sederburg to bolster his resume.
While other Tigers would not claim placements, the rest of the lineup was hungry for the competition. Kipp Cordes grabbed a pinfall in the final seconds of his first match of the day at 133, while Ian Metz grabbed a gritty 8-5 decision victory on the backside of the 141-pound bracket. Dylan Arredondo grabbed a 16-0 technical fall in his lone win of the day at 157, and was joined in the bracket by Gavin Braun, who snagged 8-3 and 10-4 decision wins throughout the tournament. Tukker Boe, Landon Flogstad, Lane Miller, and Tanner Hennings rounded out the team's lineup, but would not be able to record wins in their matchups. Even still, the Tigers were able to finish tied for 16th place as a team with 62 total points in a highly competitive field, marking a notable improvement from their 30th-place finish as a team at the Missouri Valley Invitational in 2025.
DWU Men's Wrestling will be back in action at the Christen Family Athletic Center on Tuesday, January 27th, for Senior Day, along with the team's annual whiteout celebration. See the full 2025-26 schedule here.
