CRETE, Neb. — RV Dakota Wesleyan Men's Wrestling faced the RV Hastings Broncos and No. 16 Concordia Bulldogs in dual meets to close the regular season slate of competition.
Dakota Wesleyan squared off against Hastings to open its day of competition. The Broncos got the initial leg up at 125, with Weber recording a pinfall over Jaxson Irvine, but the Tigers responded with seven consecutive bout wins. Tukker Boe kicked off the winning streak at 133 with a gutsy 8-7 decision win and was followed up by a pinfall in the second period from Landon Flogstad. Tyson Johnson accepted a forfeit to add six more points to the team scoreboard. At 157, Gavin Braun pulled out another big decision win for DWU in a 6-4 contest, while Jaxon Ducheneaux recorded a dominant 16-0 technical fall win to keep the momentum rolling. Jagger Tyler snagged a pin at the end of the first period before a Jaxon Quail technical fall, and while Hastings recorded a forfeit win at 197 to end the streak of match victories, Cole Hennings would accept another forfeit in favor of the Tigers to win the dual, 40-12.
The Tigers faced a ranked Concordia Bulldogs squad right after the win over Hastings, and CUNE was able to gain early momentum with a pinfall over Irvine at 125 and a 9-4 decision win over Kipp Cordes at 133. Flogstad recorded his second win of the day via injury forfeit, and Johnson was able to give the Tigers a lead with a pinfall victory at 149, but wins at 157 and 165 over Braun and Remmers put the Bulldogs back in control. Tyler recorded an impressive 12-2 major decision victory at 174 over Hunter Weimer, but the rest of the dual would fall in favor of Concordia, ultimately leading to a 32-16 DWU loss. The Tigers cap off the regular season with a 5-3 GPAC dual record and a 6-8 record overall.
