Softball Lands Commitments From South Dakota Locals

MITCHELL, S.D. — Dakota Wesleyan Softball lands two local recruits that will be making contributions to the program in the very near future.

The first of the two commits is a transfer from GPAC foe Northwestern, Reese Marek. Marek is originally from Fulton, South Dakota, and was a part of a Red Raiders squad that was named GPAC Softball Champions last season, along with a national region qualification. As a freshman, Marek recorded 13 runs across 35 appearances and started in two contests for the Red Raiders, fully preparing her for GPAC play. She originally attended Hanson High School and earned six letters in both cross country and track before becoming a staple of the Beaver softball squad, being named to the Class B All-State Team twice as a Beaver. Marek is a versatile athlete who could see playing time in both the infield and outfield, and will be a staple of DWU Softball for the remainder of her eligibility.

The second commitment is from high school graduate Lydia Yost. Yost is an infielder from Wagner High School, where she was named team MVP, along with being the top offensive performer for the Red Raiders statistically. Yost is related to current DWU women's basketball star Emma Yost, who was present for her signing, continuing her namesake's legacy in Mitchell. Yost was an all-conference basketball player at Wagner and earned five letters in the sport, while earning three in softball and two in cross country.

DWU Softball will kick of this season's campaign in the next month. See the full 2026 schedule here.
