FOREST CITY, Iowa — No. 9 Dakota Wesleyan Women's Basketball squared off against the Waldorf Warriors in a road GPAC contest.
The Tigers got to work quickly on the Warriors, with Rylee Rosenquist and Emma Yost dominating the early portions of the contest. Rosenquist would go on to tally 13 points, five assists, three rebounds, two steals, and a block, while Yost recorded 16 points, four assists, two rebounds, and two blocks by the end of the contest. None of the starters exceeded 20 minutes of time on the court thanks to early momentum that saw the Tigers continue to churn out points while snuffing out the Warriors at nearly every turn. Off the bench, Taliyah Hayes ended up leading the team in scoring, posting 19 points in 19 minutes played alongside six rebounds, two assists, and two steals, with a good chunk of her scoring coming in the second period. The first period saw the Tigers take a 29-10 lead before picking up the pace and outscoring the Warriors 35-7 in the second period, taking a 64-17 lead into the break.
For the rest of the starting rotation, Shalayne Nagel, Jaida Young, and Avery Broughton ended up combining for 20 points, 15 rebounds, 12 assists, and five steals to add to the effort, and while their performances did not exceed double-digit scoring marks individually, their efforts helped pave the way for the rest of the team to contribute. Avery Orth chimed in with 12 points of her own off the bench, along with a tied-team-leading eight rebounds, two steals, and a block. Orth was matched on the boards by Lizzie Pavlis, who was able to record eight boards of her own, along with nine points, three assists, and a steal. Isabelle Ellwein went 3-4 (75%) from the floor to contribute eight additional points, while Nora Dinger, Maleighya Estes, and Sloane Keszler were all able to record multiple baskets in their efforts down the stretch. DWU was also able to claim 40 points off turnovers to Waldorf's six, and out-rebounded the Warriors 46-15 by the end of the game. The all-around impressive performance led to a 115-46 win in favor of Dakota Wesleyan.
The Tigers complete the season sweep of the Warriors, and the recorded 115 points is the most in a single game for the team since 2022, when they defeated College of Saint Mary in November, 100-40. DWU also extends its win streak to 15, which nears the program record of 18, which was set between the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons when the Tigers won the National Championship.
DWU Women's Basketball will be back in action on the road against Mount Marty on Saturday, February 14th, starting at 2:00 PM. See the full 2025-26 schedule here.
