MARSHALL, Minn. — DWU Women's Golf competed at the Mustang Invite on September 27th through the 28th, hosted by NCAA Division II school Southwest Minnesota State.
The pool of teams would be mostly comprised of Division II teams in the area, alongside GPAC foes Morningside and Briar Cliff, to make for a competitive weekend for the women's golf team. Sara Sudenga and Allison Meyerink were the team's top scorers through the first day, recording marks of 81 (+9) and 80 (+8), respectively. Sudenga's breakout performance was solidified in the second round, however, after seeing an eight-stroke improvement to finish the day at an extremely impressive 73 (+1), which brought her total score to 154 (+10) and bumped her up 15 spots on the individual leaderboard to finish in eighth place. Meyerink would also see a second-round improvement and finish one stroke behind Sudenga, recording a 155 (+11) to finish just outside of the top 10. Both athletes would propel the Tigers to an eighth-place team finish out of the 13 squads that competed.
Ashton Austreim was the next DWU representative on the leaderboard, recording a score of 167 (+23) after seeing a four-stroke improvement from the first day into the second. Dakotah Larson shot 86 (+14) in both rounds in a consistent effort, and Macee Bartels rounded out the team's lineup just two strokes behind Larson, registering a 174 in the final tally.
DWU Women's Golf will be back in action at the 2025 Mustang Derby on Monday, October 6th. See the full 2025-26 schedule here.
