MITCHELL, S.D. – Freshman Cole Halouska (Worthing, S.D.) grabbed a first place finish as the Dakota Wesleyan University wrestling team competed in the Auggie-Adidas Invitational Saturday in Minneapolis, Minn.
Halouska started his day with a pin over Winton Neal, then followed that performance with a 3-2 decision over Brandon Lucht of Wisconsin-Platteville to capture the championship in the 157-pound weight class.
Bradley Dohmen (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) notched a fifth-place finish in the 285-pound weight class. He began with a pin against Gage Waverly of Southwest Minnesota State University. In his second match, Dohmen dropped a close match to Sam Zook 5-2, but came back in the consolation round defeating Cole Knier 4-2. Dohmen finished his day in the fifth-place match defeating Tanner Weber of Wisconsin-Platteville.
Xylon Takata (Hilo, Hawaii) went 0-2 on the day, as did Mitchell Messersmith (Lennox, S.D.). Chris Wheeler (Palmdale, Calif.) fell in his first two matches, while Joseph Cunha (Schaumburg, Ill.) dropped three matches.
The Tigers will return home to wrestle Briar Cliff at 7 p.m. tomorrow at the DWU/Avera Sports and Wellness Complex in Mitchell.
