Tigers compete at GPAC Duals

SIOUX CITY, Iowa. – The Dakota Wesleyan University wrestling team competed in the GPAC Duals and battled three different conference opponents on Saturday in Sioux City, Iowa.

 In the first match, the Tigers battled Midland University, losing to the Warriors 45-9. In the 157-pound weight class, Marcus Urban (Plankinton, S.D.) pinned Tristian Snover in the first period to get DWU on the scoreboard. At 165 pounds, Cole Halouska (Worthing, S.D.) dropped a close match to Sam Dunwell 5-3. Tanner Wernsman (Arapahoe, Neb.) defeated Joseph Rodriguez 8-3 in the 174-pound weight class.

 In the second match of the day, the Tigers took on Morningside College, losing to the Mustangs 51-0. DWU finished the day against Northwestern College and dropped the dual 49-3. The lone victory for the Tigers came from Urban who won by a 3-2 decision over Dante Preciado.

 DWU will be back on the mat against University of Jamestown at 7 p.m. Feb. 7th in Jamestown, N.D.
