YORK, Neb. — Dakota Wesleyan Women's Soccer faced the York Panthers on the road in a weekend contest.
The Tigers would pick up right where they left off against Buena Vista, continuing to push the pace on offense to keep the pressure on York's defenders and goalkeeper. DWU would out-shoot the Panthers 22-7 over the course of the contest, including three corner kicks, but the Tigers would once again face a stout goalkeeper group that would total six saves between two players. Even so, Dakota Wesleyan would find the net towards the end of the first half as Esmeralda Guzman received an assist from Alana Otten and Rayna Goehring to take a 1-0 lead before heading into the locker room.
Defensively, the Tigers would be led by Genesis Mendez, Jacque Madrid, and Mikayla Adams who would all play a full 90 minutes on the pitch and would keep the pressue off goalkeeper Abigail Colgrove for a majority of the contest. Hannah Petrucci would be the main aggressor on the offensive front, continuing to keep the pressure on the Panthers' defense as the game continued, totalling seven shots. She would be follow by Noelie Prat, who had four total shots and put up two on the goal. York would finally find a crease in the defense late in the game on an unassisted goal in the 77th minute, but the continued effort of the Tiger front would keep the score tied through the final frame. The 1-1 tie would be the team's second draw in a row.
DWU Women's Soccer will continue their out-of-conference road trip on Wednesday, September 10th, as they square off against Nebraska Wesleyan in Lincoln. See the entire 2025 schedule here.
