MITCHELL, S.D. — Dakota Wesleyan Women's Soccer faced the Dordt Defenders in a conference match at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex.
The contest would be a defensive battle, with both goalkeepers putting in strong showings. Abigail Colgrove registered three saves and would benefit from an impressive effort from the team's backline. Meghan Hutchison and Mikayla Adams put in full 90-minute efforts and successfully limited Dordt's offensive opportunities, with both also recording a shot-on-goal on the front end of the pitch. An early red card against Dordt would give Dakota Wesleyan an advantage, but they would ultimately be unable to score. Hannah Petrucci would put up five shots, followed by Annika Enevoldsen with four, and even with the added firepower of Sara Ewert and Noelie Prat, the Tigers were not able to convert on any attempts. With the defense keeping the ball pushed towards Dordt's side of the field, however, DWU was still able to take some momentum into the half with the score tied at 0-0.
In the second half, the Tigers continued to keep the pressure on Dordt's defensive unit with early scoring attempts. Dakota Wesleyan saw goals appear to convert multiple times in the contest, but because of fouls, the attempts would remain unsuccessful. More Tigers recorded shots, including Esmeralda Guzmán and Jacque Madrid, but the Dordt defense continued to hold them at bay. A second red card against the Defenders in the 84th minute would give DWU a two-person advantage going into the final five minutes of the game, but the Tigers could not find openings on their final few offensive attempts, and the game would end in a 0-0 tie.
DWU Women's Soccer will head to Hastings for their next road contest on Saturday, September 27th. See the full 2025 schedule here.
