MITCHELL, S.D. — Dakota Wesleyan Women's Soccer hosted the RV Concordia Bulldogs to cap off a Saturday slate of competition in Mitchell.
Concordia started the match with the offensive advantage, being able to keep the ball on the DWU side of the pitch, but Dakota Wesleyan's defense was at the ready for most of the contest. Abigail Colgrove and another impressive showing, registering six saves on seven shots-on-goal to continue her stellar 2025 season. She found support in the backline from Molly Colgrove and Meghan Hutchison, who both recorded full 90-minute efforts as the team's main defenders, with Abigail Determan and Reese Leighton also putting in solid performances to keep the CUNE offense at bay. Mikayla Adams put in work on both ends of the field, both bolstering the backline while also registering a shot for the Tigers to try to gain an advantage. Ultimately, the Tigers were only able to record four shots during the first half, limiting their opportunities, but the defensive effort kept the contest scoreless going into the half.
The offensive effort for both teams picked up in the second half, with Concordia registering 11 shots, compared to DWU's five. Esmeralda Guzmán put up the Tigers' only shot on goal in the 59th minute, but a save from the CUNE goalkeeper kept DWU scoreless. The continued output from Concordia pressured the DWU defense. While they continued to put up an impressive effort, the Bulldogs were able to finally get one through the backline in the 68th minute to go up 1-0 on the Tigers. Concordia was able to keep the Dakota Wesleyan counterattack at bay for the remainder of the match and was able to keep possession to limit DWU's final scoring opportunities. The 1-0 scoreline ended up being the final result of the contest. The Tigers move to 4-3-6 on the season and 3-2-3 in GPAC play.
DWU Women's Soccer will be back in action against the Briar Cliff Chargers on Wednesday, October 22nd, at 2:30 PM. See the full 2025 schedule here.
