General: The Riverton, Wyo., native adds depth to the Tiger pitching rotation in his second season on the mound. 

Junior (2022): Martinez took the bump for the Tigers nine times during the season, earning the start in seven of them… on the year, he was credited with two wins and four losses… he tossed a total of 34 2/3 innings allowing 41 hits and 25 earned runs… he struck out 28 batters for the third most of the pitching staff, notching a 7.27 strike out per nine inning average… he allowed two home runs as he posted a 6.49 ERA.

Sophomore (2021): Took the bump in five games pitching 5.1 innings… tallied an ERA of 8.44.

Freshman (2020): Made one appearance for the Tigers ... recorded five strikeouts. 

High School: Participated in football and baseball … All-Conference Second Team and All-State in football … was a part of the National Honor Society and was on the honor roll.

BASEBALL BESTED BY MORNINGSIDE IN CONFERENCE ACTION

MITCHELL, S.D. – In its final week of the regular season and first action on the newly renovated Drake Field, the Dakota Wesleyan University baseball program endured a doubleheader sweep at the hands of conference foe Morningside University in Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) action on Monday afternoon in Mitchell, S.D. Morningside used a late spurt to claim the opener, 11-5, and held on for the 5-3 victory in game two.

DAKOTA WESLEYAN HANDLES NORTHWESTERN IN DOUBLEHEADER FINALE, CONTINUES POSTSEASON PUSH

MITCHELL, S.D. – In the thick of a congested Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) postseason push, head coach Charlie Dubanoski, and the Dakota Wesleyan University baseball program helped its cause with a doubleheader sweep of conference rival Northwestern College on Saturday afternoon from Cadwell Park in Mitchell, S.D. Senior lefthanded pitcher Matt Bezdicek worked the complete game, and Dakota Wesleyan clocked the 6-4 opener followed by a 4-3 victory in the finale for the series win.

TIGERS FINISH ROAD SERIES EVEN WITH HASTINGS, MARTINEZ AND ZEMAN HIGHLIGHT SUNDAY ACTION

HASTINGS, Neb. – Seven quality innings from Jereko Martinez on the mound and a season-high three RBI from freshman Michael Zeman assisted the Dakota Wesleyan University baseball team to an even series split following a doubleheader matinee versus Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) opponent Hastings College on Sunday from Duncan Field in Hastings, Neb. Hastings grabbed the opener, 14-8, though Dakota Wesleyan answered the call with a sense of urgency in game two and ultimately secured the 9-4 road win.

MITCHELL, S.D. – For the second-consecutive day, the Dakota Wesleyan University baseball program took to the diamond in the midst of windy conditions for an afternoon doubleheader versus conference foe Briar Cliff University on Sunday at Cadwell Park in Mitchell, S.D. Dakota Wesleyan clinched the back-and-forth opener, 11-10, while Briar Cliff managed the rubber match victory, 14-5, to even the series.

MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University baseball program challenged conference opponent (RV) Doane University in the series finale with a doubleheader matchup on Monday afternoon from Cadwell Park in Mitchell, S.D. Doane managed to keep its undefeated conference record alive with a 10-0 win in the opener followed by an 8-6 victory in game two.

YANKTON, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University baseball team, who returned to the diamond for another early season conference doubleheader, battled in-state rival Mount Marty University to an even split on Sunday afternoon from Bob Tereshinski Stadium in Yankton, S.D. Mount Marty registered a 13-2 win in the opener while Dakota Wesleyan grinded out a tedious, 9-5 final in the rubber match for its first Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) victory of the season.

OUAZ OUTDUELS TIGERS IN NEUTRAL-SITE CONTEST

TUCSON, Ariz.  – After a doubleheader sweep and complete game from Jacob Glovich yesterday, the Dakota Wesleyan University baseball program suffered a 7-3 defeat versus neutral-site challenger Ottawa University (Ariz.) on Tuesday evening from the Kino Sports Complex in Tucson, Ariz. Bradley Skorezewski and Matt Bezdicek notched multiple hits in the matchup, however, Dakota Wesleyan was unable to overcome the four-run deficit in the single-game affair.
