FOREST CITY, Iowa — Dakota Wesleyan University Men's Soccer squared off against the Waldorf Warriors down in Iowa.
After a win over the then-ranked Midland Warriors, the Tigers looked to capitalize on their momentum against Waldorf. The team showed they were ready to play by punching in the first goal of the game in just the second minute, driven in by Neil Ennis for his first recorded goal of the season. Luis Waeschle converted on an unassisted shot attempt in the 13th minute to extend the DWU lead before Waldorf scored a goal of its own in the 20th minute, bringing the score to 2-1. Waeschle converted on another goal in the 37th minute to extend the DWU lead to 3-1 before heading into the half. Waldorf's other shot-on-goal in the first half was saved by reigning GPAC Defensive Player-of-the-Week, Zackary Stephens, who would have a quiet day following the defensive stand thanks to the efforts of the backline.
The defense carried its momentum into the second half, allowing zero shots in the final 45 minutes of competition. David Lennon and Colin Burke were the main backline contributors alongside Ennis, with the team's play on the opposite side of the pitch keeping the pressure on Waldorf. The offense continued its streak of dominance, with Maximilian Nolle registering a goal in the 51st minute to extend DWU's lead to 4-1. Lennon and Ryan Ford helped Waeschle with his third goal of the day in the 59th minute to earn the junior his first career hat trick as a Tiger, totaling nine shots during the match. Korbinian Rieder got an assist from Charlie Orsler in the 71st minute to extend DWU's lead to 6-1, which ended up being the final score of the match.
DWU Men's Soccer will be back in action against the Concordia Bulldogs, taking place at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer complex on Saturday, October 18th, at 4:00 PM. See the full 2025 schedule here.
